Biomedical Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that is concerned with the use of engineering principles and medicine to biological and medical problems. It involves the applications of concepts, knowledge, and approaches of almost all engineering disciplines to solve health care related problems.

The Biomedical Engineering undergraduate programmes focuses the attention on three major areas which include:

Admission Requirement
Direct Entry
  1. 3 years degree programme Higher National Diploma (HND) at upper credit level in Biomedical Engineering may be considered for admission into the 300 level of the programme and must have at least 1-year post qualification experience

  2. Candidates with ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering with minimum of upper credit and a minimum of one-year post qualification industrial attachment may be considered for admission into a 4 years degree programme

  3. Candidates who possess three A 'level passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are considered for direct entry admission into 4-year programme in Biomedical Engineering

  4. In addition, candidate for direct entry admissions must possess five O 'level WASCE and it's equivalents credits in English language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

  5. Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
  6. UTME Candidates should have five O-level WASCE, NECO, and its equivalent credits in five subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, and Biology. Candidate should offer the following subjects in UTME: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. This is the only accepted JAMB subject combination for B.Eng Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ilorin

  7. Remedial Students of the University of Ilorin who passed remedial exams may be abasorbed into 100 level
